Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how WTF WHY ("the app", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information. The app is published by D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F Corp. By using the app, you agree to the practices described below.

What We Collect

The app collects a limited amount of data to provide the arcade game experience:

  • Username / Nickname: Your chosen display name, shown on the global leaderboard.
  • Device Identifier: A unique identifier used to link your scores and stats to your device and to prevent duplicate leaderboard entries.
  • Game Data: Your high scores, death counts, play counts, and related gameplay statistics.
  • Advertising Data: When ads are displayed, our advertising partner (Google AdMob) automatically collects data such as device identifiers, ad interaction data, and general (non-precise) location, in order to serve and measure ads. This collection is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
  • Purchase Data: If you buy the "Remove Ads" upgrade, a purchase identifier is processed to validate and restore your purchase.
  • Diagnostic Data: Crash logs and basic performance information (such as app launch time and stability) are collected by our advertising and service SDKs to help diagnose problems and keep the app running properly.

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, precise location, or microphone audio.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

  • Display your scores on the global leaderboard.
  • Track your personal stats and achievements within the app.
  • Prevent duplicate entries and maintain fair play.
  • Serve and measure advertising (via Google AdMob), unless you have purchased the ad-free upgrade.
  • Validate and restore in-app purchases.

We do not sell your personal data.

Tracking and Advertising

The free version of the app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To serve and measure those ads, AdMob uses your device's advertising identifier (the IDFA on iOS, or the Advertising ID on Android) together with data collected about that same device in other apps and websites not operated by us. Under Apple's definition this is considered tracking, and it is used for targeted advertising and advertising measurement.

On iOS, we ask for your permission before any of this happens, using Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, we and our partners do not use your advertising identifier to track you, and you will see less relevant (non-personalised) ads instead. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on iOS, or via Opt out of Ads Personalisation in your Google settings on Android.

The data we collect ourselves — your username, device identifier, and game scores — is never used for tracking, never combined with third-party data for advertising, and never shared with data brokers. Purchasing the "Remove Ads" upgrade stops ads, and the advertising data collection that goes with them, entirely.

How Your Data Is Shared

We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the app:

  • Google AdMob — serves advertising and collects advertising data as described above. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • RevenueCat — manages and validates in-app purchases. A purchase/device identifier is processed to deliver and restore your "Remove Ads" entitlement. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
  • Diagnostics — the SDKs above also report crash logs and basic performance information (such as device and app state at the time of a crash) so we can fix bugs and keep the app stable. This diagnostic data is not used for advertising or tracking.

Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy policies and is contractually required to protect the data they handle.

In-App Purchases

If you purchase the "Remove Ads" upgrade, the transaction itself is processed securely through Apple's App Store or Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment card details. Purchase validation and restoration are handled through RevenueCat.

Data Storage and Retention

Leaderboard data (nickname, device identifier, scores) is stored in our database for as long as your entry remains on the leaderboard. Local stats are stored on your device and can be cleared at any time using the "Reset Scores" option in the app's settings.

Your Rights and Choices

You can:

  • Change your username at any time via the app's settings.
  • Reset your local stats (personal bests, death counts, play counts) using "Reset Scores" in settings.
  • Request deletion of your server-side data (your leaderboard entry and associated identifier) by contacting us at the email below. We will action verified deletion requests within a reasonable period.
  • Refuse or withdraw tracking permission — on iOS, decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt, or change your choice later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, use Opt out of Ads Personalisation or reset your Advertising ID.
  • Remove ads entirely by purchasing the "Remove Ads" upgrade.

Children's Privacy

This app is rated for mature audiences (16+) and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
